obituaries.ai is made by Funeral Link LLC (5900 Balcones Dr, Ste 100, Austin, TX 78731). Today this site does one thing: it takes an email address, so that we can write to you once when the obituary writer opens. This page explains what happens to that address.
Your email address. That is the only thing the form asks for, and the only thing we keep about you. We do not ask for your name, or the name of the person who died, or anything about them — the writer is not open yet, so there is nothing here yet to tell us. Our servers keep the ordinary technical and security records that running a website requires.
What the page says, and nothing more: we will write to you once. One email, when it works. No list, no sequence, nothing else.
We do not sell it. We do not give it to data brokers. We do not add it to a mailing list. And we do not use it to advertise: an address given here is deliberately left out of the measurement we do for our own ads, so asking to be told is not counted as a conversion and is not sent to any advertising platform. That is a decision about who is standing here. Someone writing an obituary is not a sales lead.
Only the service providers who help us run this site and deliver that one email, each under a contract requiring them to protect it and use it only for us; anyone the law requires; and, if the business is ever transferred, subject to this policy.
Until we have written to you, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. You can ask any time at privacy@funeral.link, and you do not have to give a reason.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, delete, or receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of any sale or sharing. Email privacy@funeral.link and we will respond within the time applicable law requires.
We use appropriate technical and organizational safeguards and limit access to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care, and we will notify you and the authorities of an incident as the law requires.
This site is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children here.
This policy describes the site as it is today — one page and a waitlist. The writing tool will collect something different: what you choose to tell it about the person you lost. Before it opens, this page will say plainly what happens to that, and the two promises on the front page will still hold — we write about a person and never as them, and the draft is yours rather than a page we own.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected here, and the date at the top will change.
